Tele-Cosmetic/Plastics/Reconstructive Surgery
Tele-Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is a new and evolving. The initial, and post operative consultations with the patient can be done successfully via telemedicine. The pre-operative consultation and surgey are still being studied for telemedicine application. The injectibles such as botox injections can be done by remote consultation and orders given to nurse practitioner for location and amounts of injectibles.
The setup for telemedicine consults is a two way video link with high resolution camera on the patient end, Electronic Health Record system, eprescribing, and billing systems. The pathology and lab data can be transmitted electronically to the Electronic health records. The personnel requirements are for a nurse or nurse practitioner at the patient end, and a medical assistant.
The provider end can view the data in a store and forward mode for scheduled tele-consults, or live consults can be conducted with the surgeon.
